This was at the beginning of the semester. There is a place called Sammys, it's become one of the hot spots for concerts, food and just hanging out; it has a really fun atomosphere. So anyway... JOSIE told us about MOUSTACHE MONDAY and said that you would be able to get a 85 cent grilled cheese if we wore a moustache. So OFCOURSE we went! It was so much fun. We definitely got some funny looks.. but that's okay, as long as you are true to yourself and you are having fun- GO FOR IT! :)
So this PAST WEEKEND I was lucky to have gotten some free tickets to a Eric Marienthal concert. He is a FAMOUS saxophonist. He was SO SO AMAZING!! Anyway, we made it into a group date. We themed it with the 1920's Jazz Era. So we had music from the 1920's playing in the background. We made Jambalaya (chicken instead of Shrimp), the reason for this dish is that Jazz started in the New Orleans... or something like that haha and this is a really popular dish back there. We also made some apple spice cake and popsicles (because they were invented in the 1920s). OH and the drinks... they were NON alcholic, if you were wondering haha. The drink was called Hurricane, with grenadine and sugar (I know, SUPER healthy). During the dinner we had these note cards with all of these random questions on it and we went around and answered them. It was really fun- we had questions like "What's your favorite Childhood memory?", "Pearls or Diamonds?", "What's the most fun you've had in the last year?" etc. We learned a lot about each other and it kept conversation flowing. ALL IN ALL it was a good dinner.
So we then went to the concert! Eric Marienthal was so amazing. He played the saxophone with such passion and enthusiasm! I just hope to be able to perform with as much passion as he did.
After the concert we wanted to go to a campus dance, but on the way we stopped by the art building (Spori). And we had some fun with the camera. So this is my date, Jay and I, in front of our favorite landscape.
We then went to the dance for a little while and then went home! It was a really fun date, if I might say so myself.
So above you will see what my life has been encompassed with! Rythmns, transposing songs, memorizing songs in Sol-fege and lots of reading about the history of Music and learning about the anatomy of the body- ALL in the name of Singing.
It's what I love!
